Kings Bear E-Commerce Platform
About Project
A full-stack e-commerce platform developed for Kings Bear, a premium handmade teddy bear brand. The application provides a complete online shopping experience including product browsing, cart management, wishlist functionality, secure authentication, checkout, order tracking, and a dedicated admin dashboard for managing products, users, and orders.
The platform is built with a Next.js and React frontend backed by a FastAPI REST API. Firebase Firestore is used for data persistence and Firebase Authentication handles customer authentication, while administrators use a separate protected authentication flow. Product images are managed through Cloudinary, and automated email notifications are sent for order confirmations and password reset requests.
Application Development
I developed Kings Bear as a full-stack e-commerce platform for a premium handmade teddy bear brand. The application provides customers with a complete shopping experience, including product discovery, product details, cart management, wishlist functionality, checkout, authentication, and order history.
The frontend was developed using Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. I implemented reusable components and separate application areas for customers and administrators. Framer Motion was also used to add smooth animations and improve the overall user experience.
The backend was developed using FastAPI and follows a layered architecture separating routes, controllers, services, schemas, and database functionality. This structure keeps API endpoints lightweight while placing business logic inside dedicated service modules.
Firebase Firestore is used as the primary database, while Firebase Authentication provides customer authentication. The backend validates authenticated users through the Firebase Admin SDK and uses custom JWT authorization for protected API operations. Google OAuth is also supported for customer login, while administrators use a separate protected authentication system with bcrypt-hashed passwords.
For e-commerce functionality, I implemented product management, shopping carts, wishlists, checkout, order creation, order history, and administrative order management. Product images are uploaded and managed through Cloudinary, allowing the application to use scalable cloud-based image storage.
I also integrated Gmail SMTP for transactional communication, including order confirmation and password reset emails. The application includes configurable CORS support for production and Vercel preview deployments.
The complete system is containerized using Docker, with separate frontend and backend services managed through Docker Compose. The frontend is deployed through Vercel, while the backend is designed for cloud deployment and communicates with the frontend through REST APIs.
Architecture & Engineering
The application follows a client-server architecture with a Next.js frontend communicating with a FastAPI REST API. The backend is organized into routes, controllers, services, schemas, models, and infrastructure modules to maintain separation of concerns and make the system easier to maintain and extend.
The customer-facing application and administrative dashboard use separate authentication contexts and protected application routes. Backend APIs enforce authorization before performing sensitive operations such as order management, product administration, and user management.
Firestore provides flexible NoSQL data storage, while Cloudinary handles product media. Docker Compose provides a consistent local development environment by running the frontend and backend as independent services.
Client Project
This is an ongoing client project developed for Kings Bear. My responsibilities include full-stack application development, frontend implementation, backend API development, authentication, database integration, e-commerce functionality, admin dashboard development, third-party service integration, and deployment configuration.
